Tiger’s Coming Back

Yup, you read that right, Tiger Woods is coming back to the PGA Tour. Recently announced on his twitter account, Tiger will be making his first appearance on the PGA Tour at the Memorial next week. This is the first tournament Tiger has played since the Coronavirus pandemic. The last time he played wasFebruary 16th

Where’s Tiger Been?

Tiger Woods has been dealing with back stiffness since the early part of the year. He missed tournaments that he normally plays like the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship. He would have been ready to defend his Master’s title at Augusta in April. However, he was able to play at the Medalist for a charity match with Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning.

Tiger’s Ranking

Woods has played 3 tournaments this season, Zozo championship, Farmers Insurance Open, and the Genesis. In the FedEx Cup standings, he’s ranked 41st and 14th in the Official World Golf Ranking. The Memorial comes three weeks before the first rescheduled Major Championship is announced. Tiger wants to compete and get out and play, but our prediction is he will pick and choose which tournaments to play in. There is a possibility of Tiger playing a warmup tournament before the PGA Tournament at Harding Park in San Francisco (August 6th - 9th). We’ll see if he is able to.

Like the other PGA Tour Golfers, Tiger Woods will adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols. The guidelines are like May’s The Match 2. Tiger playing on the PGA Tour makes the tournaments that much better. Sure, he’s not in his prime, but if last year’s Masters have taught us anything, Tiger still has incredible moments to share.
